Wabi Sabi

Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 October 2026

The short version

  • Without an account, your birth details stay on your phone.
  • With an account, we keep your email, your birth details and the people you add, in the EU (Ireland), so you have them on any phone.
  • We use them only to draw your charts. No ads. We never sell or share your information for marketing.
  • Delete everything any time: Your account → Delete account.

Who we are

Wabi Sabi (askwabisabi.com) is run by Y Anirudh Kumar, an individual based in India. We decide how your information is used: under EU and UK law we are its “controller”. For anything on this page, or to use your rights, email hello@askwabisabi.com.

What we keep, and why

Your birth details and charts

Your date, time and place of birth, the chart worked out from them, and where you live if you add it. We need them to draw your charts: your 12 rooms, your dasha road, the cities that suit you, love and marriage timing, and your home. Your details are sent to our server to work out a chart, and the server doesn’t keep them. Without an account they stay in your browser’s storage on this phone.

People you add

The name, relationship and birth details of anyone you add, such as a partner, to compare your charts. Add only people you know would be fine with it.

What you save in a chart

For example, cities you save in City Globe and rooms you set up in Home Harmony.

Your account

Accounts are optional. If you make one, we keep your email address, so you can sign in and so we can send your sign-in codes. Everything above is then saved to your account, so it’s on any phone you sign in on.

Signing in with Google

If you choose Continue with Google, Google tells us your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID. We use the email address and account ID to sign you in and to know it’s you. Your name and picture are stored with your account and used for nothing else. We get nothing else from your Google account: not your contacts, email, files or calendar.

Talking to Luna

When you talk to Luna, our voice guide, your microphone audio and a summary of your chart (which planets sit in which rooms, not your birth date or place) go from your phone to Google’s Gemini API, which writes and speaks her answer. We don’t record or keep your voice or your conversations. We do keep when each call started and how long it lasted, with your account, so everyone gets the same daily time with Luna. The microphone is on only during a call, and only after your browser asks for your permission.

Running the site

Our host, Vercel, logs each request (IP address, browser, page and time) to keep the site secure and working. Our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when it sends them.

Counting what people use

To learn which parts of Wabi Sabi people use and where they stop, we count a few moments in a visit, such as opening a chart, sending birth details, seeing an answer or signing in. Each count is the moment’s name, the page’s name, and whether you’ve been here before — nothing else: never your birth details, email, place, or the names of people you add. PostHog counts them for us, in the EU, and we’ve set it not to keep IP addresses. We use no cookies anywhere on Wabi Sabi.

To tell one visit from the next, we use one of three things, depending on you:

  • Signed in: your account number, which is already on your phone because you asked to be signed in. Nothing extra is stored to count you, and the counts follow you to any phone you sign in on.
  • Signed out, outside Europe: a random number kept on your phone. It holds nothing about you, isn’t linked to your name or email, is used for nothing but counting, and is thrown away when you sign out.
  • Signed out, in Europe or the UK: nothing is kept on your phone at all. PostHog works out a code from your connection instead, and that code changes every day, so we can’t follow you from one day to the next.

Turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser and nothing is counted, wherever you are.

Information from Google

When you sign in with Google we ask only for the basic sign-in permissions: openid, email and profile.

  • How we use it: only to create your Wabi Sabi account, sign you in, and show you which account you’re signed in with.
  • Where it’s kept: with your account, in our database in Ireland (EU), until you delete your account.
  • Who sees it: no one outside Wabi Sabi, except the service providers below who run the service for us. We don’t sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. People at Wabi Sabi don’t read it unless you ask us to, or the law or a security problem requires it.

Wabi Sabi’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can remove Wabi Sabi’s access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/connections. That stops Google sign-in; to delete what we keep, delete your account too.

Who helps us run Wabi Sabi

These providers handle your information only to run Wabi Sabi for us, under contracts that require them to protect it:

  • Supabase: your account, sign-in and saved details. Stored in Ireland (EU).
  • Vercel: hosts the website and works out your charts. Its network serves visitors from data centres around the world.
  • Google: Sign in with Google, the Gemini API (Luna’s voice) and Google Fonts.
  • PostHog: counts the moments in a visit described above. Stored in the EU.
  • Our email provider: sends your sign-in codes.

We share information with others only if the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety or Wabi Sabi’s security. If Wabi Sabi is ever sold or merged, your information would move only under this policy, and we would tell you first.

Some of these providers are in the United States or reach your information from there. When information leaves the EU or UK, it is protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Why we’re allowed to use it

Under EU and UK law we rely on:

  • Our agreement with you: to give you the charts, the account and Luna that you ask for.
  • Legitimate interests: to keep Wabi Sabi secure and working, count visits, and fix problems. For the people you add, it’s your interest and ours in showing the comparison you asked for.
  • Your consent: for your microphone, which you can turn off any time in your browser.

How long we keep it

As long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your email, birth details, people, saves and Luna call times are deleted from our database straight away. Copies in our providers’ backups are gone within 30 days. Request logs are kept for up to 30 days. Details kept only on your phone stay until you choose Forget my details or clear your browser’s data.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can:

  • See and change your details: they’re in the app, under Edit.
  • Delete them: Forget my details deletes your birth details and your people; Your account → Delete account deletes everything.
  • Get a copy of what we keep, in a common format.
  • Object to or ask us to limit how we use your information, and withdraw consent.

Email hello@askwabisabi.com for anything the app doesn’t do itself. We answer within one month and may ask you to confirm it’s your account. It’s free.

In the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority. In California and other US states with privacy laws, you have the right to know, correct and delete your information. We don’t sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we won’t treat you differently for using your rights. In India, write to the same address for any grievance about your data.

Cookies and storage on your phone

We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Wabi Sabi keeps your details and, if you’re signed in, your session in your browser’s local storage, because that’s how the app works. Outside Europe it also keeps the random number described under “Counting what people use”. Google’s sign-in button sets Google’s own cookies when you use it.

Children

Wabi Sabi is for people 16 and older. We don’t knowingly keep information about anyone younger. If you think a child has made an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.

Keeping it safe

Everything travels encrypted (HTTPS). In our database, each account can read and change only its own rows. There are no passwords to leak: you sign in with a code sent to your email, or with Google.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change matters, such as keeping something new, we’ll tell you in the app before it applies.
